A Season of Reflection
This season of our lives has been marked by change, growth, and deep gratitude. As we approached our twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, we found ourselves reflecting not only on the years behind us, but on the work God is doing in us right now. That reflection stirred joy and a desire to mark the moment with the people who have walked alongside us.
Celebrating twenty-five years of marriage felt significant to us. It is significant. We were genuinely excited, perhaps even a little swept up in the joy of it, and we wanted to share that joy with those we love. This anniversary marks not just longevity, but a season of profound growth, transition, and gratitude in our lives.
A Clarifying Word
As we shared our plans, some people kindly asked if a vow renewal meant we were struggling in our marriage. We want to gently clarify that this was never the case. We are deeply in love, profoundly grateful for our life together, and more connected now than we have ever been. The renewal was not about repair. It was about celebration. We simply wanted to commemorate a moment in time when so much was changing and when God’s faithfulness felt especially clear.
Discernment in This Season
At the same time, we are living in a season where nearly everything in our lives is shifting at once. Jobs, graduate school, parenting, ministry, and the building of a new church community are all happening simultaneously. As the planning continued, it became clear that while the idea of a public celebration was joyful, the timing and financial investment no longer felt wise or aligned with the stewardship we are trying to practice right now.
After prayer and many conversations together, we decided to step back from the event itself. This was not a decision made out of disappointment, but out of clarity. Sometimes honoring a season means choosing simplicity over spectacle, and faithfulness over momentum. This decision has given us peace.
Looking Forward Together
One of the greatest gifts in our lives right now is Orchard Home Ministries. This work is deeply connected to our marriage, our faith, and the way God has shaped our family over the past twenty-five years. While we are no longer gathering for a formal celebration, we wanted to share our hearts with you and invite you into what God is doing through this ministry.
If you were hoping to mark this milestone with us in some way, we would be honored if you chose to support Orchard Home Ministries. Any gift is a meaningful act of partnership in the work of prayer, discipleship, and community that is taking root. There is no expectation, only gratitude.
